The Faculty Of Western Academy

Dan Callahan, Teacher

A Virginia native and brother to thirteen siblings, Dan Callahan attended The Heights School from 3rd through 8th grade and Bishop O’Connell for high school. Afterwards, he went on to graduate from Belmont Abbey College with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. During his time in college, Dan wrestled all four years and managed to qualify for the Division 2 NCAA National Championship. Just before arriving at Western, Dan volunteered and taught for eight months at Abbey Secondary school in Ndanda, Tanzania. There he enjoyed, among other things, learning the native language, palavering with villagers, and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Dan currently serves as a 4th grade homeroom teacher and head wrestling coach. One day, he hopes to have wit and wisdom enough to fill a modest volume—be it fiction or otherwise.
