Faculty, Dads, & Old Boys Win El Classico

In a battle for the ages, the combined efforts of Western United (the faculty, dads, and Old Boys team) were just barely enough to overcome the stalwart Varsity Green Jays in last Friday's El Classico. The Varsity boys went up 2-0 early in the first half only to witness their hardy opponent come storming back at the close of the half to tie it up. The match then went back and forth in the second half with the Green Jays surging forward 4-3 to finish off their foe only to find the resilient Western United once again bringing the score even 4-4 in the waning seconds. Then came the fateful decision. The Green Jays opted for an overtime period rather than a penalty shoot-out. Western United rose to the challenge and punched three lightning strikes past the goalie to triumph in overtime.

Playing very well for the Green Jays on offense were Nicholas Worley, Javier Garcia, Gregory Higgins, and Diego Hansell, who each scored a goal, while on defense Valentino Vigil stopped numerous shots on goal. Leading the way for Western United were Mr. Parra, Mr. Gabbart, Mr. Chincuanco, Mr. Madrid and Old Boy Marcus Hansell. It was a great game! Mr. Hoff and Mr. Janeiro provided hilarious commentary during the game, and even Mr. McManus got in on the action as the only "unruly fan" to get a yellow card from the sidelines for his indignant outbursts on behalf of the faculty!
