Here’s the news from St. Thomas High School about Ian Riches (’21), who interned at Houston City Hall this summer…

Meet Ian Riches. After participating in our Urban Plan Program in 2023, Ian’s passion and perseverance led him to an incredible opportunity—an internship with the City of Houston’s Urban Planning Department.

As the only high school student selected for this prestigious summer program, Ian gained invaluable experience, from learning the intricacies of city council operations to meeting the mayor and engaging with various public service departments. He even found time to shoot some hoops with city officials on Thursday nights! 

Ian did a great job securing this unique internship, the only student to serve in this position this summer. Congrats Ian!
