Why does Western Academy fundraise on top of budgeted income from tuition?
In casual conversations with you, parents, we constantly hear stories woven with a common theme, about how Western has become a force for good for our boys and families.
By purposeful design, the growth of Western Academy is not constrained by budgeted income alone. The accessibility of Western by many families and the school’s sustainable operation grow at the cadence of our community’s outpouring of gratitude. The Advancement Team plans giving opportunities each year to receive your generosity in the way, amount, and timing of how you are personally moved.
What are the areas to give at Western?
Western has three fundraisers each year: the Annual Drive and two events, Go Western! and Founding Roots Dinner.
In addition to these community fundraising efforts, the Advancement Team also seeks engagement with donors from beyond our current families:
Western’s Old Boys Fund runs each December, parallel to the Annual Drive, seeking recurring giving from our graduated families, and now from graduates themselves. We fondly refer to our 354 graduates (as of May 2023), as our Old Boys, reminiscent of the strong bonds of friendship faculty members keep with them as they move forward in life. Contact and mentoring with these formidable young men comes about on personal visits to campus and at planned events like the Faculty-Old Boy Pigskin Classic held in December.
Other individuals and institutions who believe in Western’s broader social mission regularly invest. These include Houston-based Foundations and major benefactors from outside our community, including donors to our Scholarship Fund.
What is the Annual Drive? What is it for?
Western’s $6.81 MM budget includes a fundraising goal of $1.25MM. The Annual Drive’s $450,000 target goal is to support campus capital items and continue the accessibility of Western to its diverse student body.
How much should I give?
Every family within the Western community is encouraged to be generous to all fundraising efforts. Western Academy families freely give to what appeals to them, knowing that proceeds from each fundraiser help fortify the mission of the school.
What if a family cannot participate in the Drive?
You can… since any pledged amount and timing of your gift during the year is considered participation. We are proud and grateful to all our generous families as we continuously achieve full participation.
How can I donate?
Donations come in all forms: Checks, Cash, Online credit cards, “Donor Advised Funds” checks, Stock gifts, etc.
Can we donate on a monthly plan?
A Recurring Gift (monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually) option appears on the Pledge Form. If you click on this option, Mr. Tim Keenley will follow up with you to set up a plan of secure recurring charges from your bank account or credit card.
Does Western receive Company Matching gifts?
Yes! We encourage our donors to take advantage of Employer Matching opportunities when available. Please click the Matching Gift option on the donation form. Mr. Tim Keenley will assist with further help.
