Blessings of a Simpler Life

During August, Rowan Bishop (’21) went to Guatemala for a one-week visit in a rural area of Guatemala. Rowan was the youngest member of the group organized through his parish church, St. Cecelia’s, with an organization called Sending Out Servants.

Rowan says, I heard about it through my church, Saint Cecilia’s. We went up in the mountains to the Quiche region of Guatemala. We administered aid and visited villages and schools around the region.

Our days mostly consisted of mornings doing home visits and afternoons in Catechesis activities with various age groups. I worked with children and disabled persons on the trip. We also visited their holy sites and beautiful churches.

On the trip, we were blessed to witness the devotion the people have to Christ and to His Church.
