Michael Whitebread, Teacher

Mike Whitebread directs Western Academy’s jazz band and advanced guitar classes as a part of Western’s Libertas Selective program, while also teaching guitar, percussion, and choral singing to the lower school. As a professional musician and instructor over the last 25 years, Mike has performed throughout the US, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa including appearances on BBC Radio, ABC World News, and French and German television. Recent performances include the Miri Country Music Festival in Malaysia, the Texas Music Festival, Austin’s South By Southwest, and as a composer and multi-instrumentalist for the Alley Theatre's productions of the Italian commedia Servant of Two Masters and Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. Previously, Mike served as a faculty member at the University of St. Thomas Music Preparatory School and TA at the University of Houston. He holds a BA and BBA from UST and a Masters of Music from the Moores School of Music in Houston, TX.
