Strake Jesuit 2024 Academic Honors

Strake Jesuit announced its National Merit Semifinalists for this year and two are Western Old Boys, none other than Henry Omanga and Matthew Parker from the class of 2021. On a side note, Mateu Orendain received a National Hispanic Recognition Award. These three young men stood out at Western far more than just academics.

Omanga and Orendain played on our conference championship football team in 2020 amidst the strange happenings that year.

Last August, Matthew Parker swam on a team of high school students churning the cold 20-mile waters from Santa Catalina Island to mainland, California. His team had been training in Houston lakes for months previous to their swim.

David Roman-Pavajeau received a National Merit Commendation and Rafael Gomez received a National Hispanic Recognition Award and a National “First Generation” Recognition award this year. Congrats to all these young men!
