In early May, HS Junior Edward Bocock (’21) helped St. Thomas High School in a big way to capture the TAPPS 6A Track State Championships in Waco.
According to the report entitled The Big Bang Theory…
The bodacious Bocock was responsible for 29 points at the Meet. He struck gold in the triple jump (45-00.25) for the second straight championship, plus the 110-meter hurdles (14.9). He placed fourth in the long jump (21-01), fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (41.82) and teamed for the bronze in the 4×400 relay (3:27.59).
And that’s not all…
Previously in the academic year, Bocock was one of two Eagle scholars chosen for the College Board’s National African American Recognition Program.
As if that wasn’t enough… Edward was announced as the winner of the Private School Athletes of the Year Awards for 2023-24 (VYPE).
St. Thomas High School announced that, Edward's dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship have truly shone through this year, and we're incredibly proud to have him represent St. Thomas High School!
Edward also won the 2023 and 2024 6A TAPPS Man of the Meet award, given annually to the one athlete who scores the most individual points at the State track meet.
Congrats to Edward and to his parents, Traci and Phil Bocock for this outstanding performance! The Bocock’s would like to thank Coach Labus, Coach Glover and Coach Malouf and all the STH coaching staff who have led Edward and the STHS track and field team as they push ALL of the boys to be their best.
