Western boys form strong bonds while in school that carry them forward in college

Quite a night on the Rugby field at Strake Jesuit on January 25, watching Western Old Boys Ruggers battle in High School Varsity Rugby.

Our Old Boys-Faculty-Dads Pigskin Classic 2018 was fantastic this year, played on a beautiful December afternoon. Over a hundred players, including 70 graduate Old Boys class years 2012 to 2018.

Thomas Armentor (Shell 2014) now a student at Texas A&M, gave a wonderful speech at the Founding Roots Dinner, April 2018. We offer a few snippets of his talk.

Brant Banks (Shell 2015) is a Junior at Westbury Christian HS and has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Nebraska on a football scholarship, playing defensive end. Four of his Western classmates attended the signing ceremony in Houston.

This summer, dad, Karl Ullrich along with his three of his sons, Michael (2015), Christopher (2016) and Peter (2018) were hiking in Scotland with a group of Boy Scouts.

Rafa is in his second year majoring in Vocal Music Performance at University of North Texas. He is a tenor and performs with the various groups like the University Singers ensemble up in Denton.

We are deeply grateful to Mr. Doug Klatt, who left a legacy of beautiful music and drama at Western Academy during his eight years starting from Western’s founding in 2010. Hear our choir sing Doug’s composition, Western’s Alma Mater song, Western, Dear Forge of my Soul.

An update from Elliot Bing (Shell 2012), one of our founding students and first graduating class, who recently received his private pilot’s license.

We are welcoming our newest set of 40 Old Boys who graduated last May. This is Western’s largest graduating class and these young men are already off to a great start at their high schools of choice. Well done, boys!
